Fundraising Event

Many thanks for everyone who got involved in our fundraising event today. We were so pleased to see so many of our pupils dressed in football kits and brightly coloured clothing to celebrate the life of the very much missed, Jordan Banks. We held this event with the support of Jordan’s family and are donating the proceeds to their chosen charity, Brian House Children’s Hospice.

At the time of publishing this newsletter we are absolutely delighted to have raised a total of £1,140.00The JustGiving page is still live for anyone still wishing to donate.

Half Term Break

School is now closed for our half term break. School will re-open at 8.45am on Monday 7th June to begin the final half term of this school year!

Parents’ Evening

A text has been sent out to parents/carers about our next Parents’ Evening which will be held virtually on Monday 14th June 2021 via School Cloud. Please follow the link and the instructions to book your appointment. Once you have chosen your appointment time you will receive an email confirmation – within that email there will be a link to cancel your booking if needed, and also the link to join the video call at your chosen appointment time.

COVID Testing over Half Term

Please be mindful of all the known COVID symptoms – a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. If anyone in your household begins to display any/all of these symptoms then you should book a PCR test as soon as possible.

Here is some advice regarding symptoms over half term. Please ensure that you have read and understood this as it is absolutely vital to keep us up to date with any situations which affect the pupils, their families or staff members of our school. If your child tests positive over this weekend we need to know straight away so we can notify possible close contacts.

There are different tests you can get to check if you have coronavirus (COVID-19). The test you need depends on why you’re getting tested. Both tests are free.

The two main tests are:

  • PCR tests – mainly for people with symptoms, they’re sent to a lab to be checked
  • Rapid lateral flow tests – only for people who do not have symptoms, they give a result in 30 minutes using a device similar to a pregnancy test

To order a PCR test call 119 or visit www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Northern Taekwondo

We are pleased to confirm that Northern Taekwondo will be back for our Stanley pupils after half term – every Thursday during term time in the Infant Hall straight after school until 4.15pm.

Your child could learn a martial art and progress through the belts. Taekwondo is fantastic for building confidence, self-defence and fitness in a fun environment.

Places are limited and will book up fast! To book your child’s place please contact Master Lee: 07779 275207 / lheyes@aol.com / www.northerntaekwondo.co.uk

Operation Encompass now operates throughout Lancashire police force. It helps police and schools work together to provide emotional and practical help to children. The system ensures that when police are called to an incident of domestic abuse, where there are children in the household who have experienced the domestic incident, the police will inform the school (Miss Manson) before the child or children arrive the following day. This ensures that the school has up to date relevant information about the child’s circumstances and can enable support to be given to the child.
