Lates

This week we recorded 88 late arrivals which is very disappointing. School doors open at 8.45am with registration at 9am. Please make sure your child arrives on time.

Well done to Class 6M who were the only class to all arrive on time every day.

Staff News

This week we say goodbye to Mrs Clarke who is leaving Stanley for new adventures. We wish her all the best with everything and we will miss her.

Parking

Please can we urge all families collecting children by car to park where there are no restrictions.  Parking restrictions and marked areas on the roads are there to keep our children safe.  We often receive calls from residents in the area who are also frustrated as they cannot leave their driveways as they have been blocked by cars parked inconsiderately. We understand that it is difficult at drop-off and collection times but please park sensibly and legally.  The Police and the Parking Wardens will be patrolling more regularly outside our school. Thank you for your understanding.

Bike Coding Event

Our NHP team and the Police Cadets will be at the Boys & Girls Club on Bowness Avenue this Sunday, May 2nd carrying out free bike coding. They will be there between 2pm-4pm so please just pop down and they will sort this for you.

PE

Reminder of Year Group PE days:

  • Reception:     Wednesday
  • Year 1:           Monday & Wednesday
  • Year 2:           Monday & Tuesday
  • Year 3:           Monday & Tuesday
  • Year 4:           Tuesday & Thursday
  • Year 5:           Wednesday & Friday
  • Year 6:           Wednesday & Friday

On these days the children should now wear their PE kit, with their school jumper/cardigan on top, and not tracksuits, football kits etc. On colder days they are permitted to wear black/navy/grey tracksuit bottoms/leggings with their PE t-shirt.

Any earrings should be removed before school as this cannot be done by any members of staff.

Packed Lunches

Fizzy drinks, sweets and chocolate are not permitted in school. Please do not send these in with your child.

Coats

Your child needs to bring a coat to school every day. Even if the weather is nice in the morning it may not stay that way throughout the day and can become very cold/wet.

Home Time Collection

As restrictions are still in place, please leave the playground as soon as you have collected your child and do not allow your child to play on the mound area (infant playground).

Bank Holiday Monday

Please remember that school will be closed this coming Monday (3rd May) as it is the May Day Bank Holiday. We will be back on Tuesday 4th May.

Operation Encompass now operates throughout Lancashire police force. It helps police and schools work together to provide emotional and practical help to children. The system ensures that when police are called to an incident of domestic abuse, where there are children in the household who have experienced the domestic incident, the police will inform the school (Miss Manson) before the child or children arrive the following day. This ensures that the school has up to date relevant information about the child’s circumstances and can enable support to be given to the child.
