Applying for a place at Stanley

Welcome to Stanley Primary School!

We are delighted that you are considering our school for your child's education. Our school provides a nurturing and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. The information below outlines the admissions process, criteria, and deadlines for enrolling at our school.

Admissions Policy

Stanley Primary School follows the admission guidelines set by Blackpool Council. Our school aims to offer a place to every child who is eligible, and we strive to make the process as smooth as possible for both parents and children.

Who Can Apply?

We admit children aged 4-11, with places available in both our Reception and Key Stage 1 & 2 classes. Children are generally admitted into Reception in the academic year they turn five. However, we welcome applications for other year groups if there are vacancies.

How to Apply

1. Reception Applications: Applications for children starting school in Reception are managed by Blackpool Council. The application window for Reception places typically opens in September and closes in January for the following academic year.

  • You can apply online via the Blackpool Council website or submit a paper application form if preferred.

  • It is important to submit your application by the deadline to ensure your child is considered for a place at Stanley Primary School.

2. In-Year Applications: If you are moving to the area or seeking a change of school, you can apply for an in-year transfer at any time during the academic year. These applications are managed by Blackpool Council.

  • To apply for an in-year place, please visit Blackpool Council’s website by clicking here. We strongly advise you have a visit to our school before placing the application.

  • You will be informed as soon as possible if a place is available for your child.

Admission Criteria

We prioritise admissions based on the following criteria:

  1. Looked After Children (Children in the care of the local authority)

  2. Siblings (Children who have a brother or sister already attending the school)

  3. Proximity to the School (Children living closest to the school, as measured by distance)

  4. Special Educational Needs (Children with specific educational requirements who need a particular environment)

Full details of the admissions criteria are available in our school’s admissions policy. We encourage you to review this document to understand how we prioritise placements.
