Eco Club
Stanley Primary School are proud to have a fantastic ECO Squad. The Eco Squad is a passionate group of students dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability within our school community. Comprising students from across the key stage 2 year groups, the Eco Squad works together to lead eco-friendly initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and caring for the school's garden and green spaces. Their projects range from organizing recycling drives to raising awareness about the importance of protecting our planet. With a focus on teamwork and responsibility, the Eco Squad empowers young minds to make positive changes, inspiring their peers and families to join the movement towards a more sustainable future. Through their efforts, they are helping to create a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally-conscious school environment.
In 2024, our ECO Squad worked hard to achieve the prestigious Green Flag Award status. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and the entire school community in promoting eco-friendly practices. We are thrilled to be part of this global movement and will continue to inspire and empower our students to make a positive impact on the planet.
The ECO Squad has joined Collection 4 Clothes recycling system to help the environment and support important charities! By recycling items like clothes, shoes & bric-a-brac, we are not only keeping our school clean and green, but we are also helping people in need. The items we collect are sent to a company that supports charities, and for every kilogram of recycled materials, our school earns cash. The cash is then put into the ECO Squad's fund to support future ECO initiatives. It's a great way for everyone to pitch in, make a difference, and have a positive impact on our community!
As well as creating school projects, The ECO Squad invite ECO friendlyvisitors to school to educate us how we can be kinder to the plantet. In 2024, the ECO Squad invited Jordan Wylie to visit our school. Our children loved listening to Jordan, he was extremely passionate about looking after the world, the importance of being aware of climate change and the small things we can do in our everyday lives to make a difference. We will be following his 'Tower Power 2024' journey, as he undertakes the ultimate eco-challenge. He is definitely a very inspirational person.
